WHERE TEAPOTS AND TUNA BREATH LIVE IN HARMONY
My Mother’s Day cards this year are actually petite junk journals. They are embellished with vintage laces from my vast collection which really pushes them into the delightfully sweet category. Each accordion-style journal has a page for “gifts” like chocolate or peppermint tea, bookmarks, wildflower seeds, sewing notions and stationery. The last page has pockets with basic tags and ephemera so one can design their own bookmarks. And, of course, there’s a Starbucks gift card so the recipient can enjoy a coffee and pastry with my compliments.
Creating the journals became addictive. I excitedly anticipated what the next journal might become. That may be because I did not design them. (There is a little suffering to endure with trial-and-error design.) This was a digital kit from My Porch Prints (Etsy) that you can customize if you wish. I had to say “Enough” to stop myself from printing, cutting, gluing pages together and selecting ephemera. That is when you know you are enjoying your creative process.
I hope they inspire you to send your mom (or sisters and aunts) something a bit more creative than a Hallmark card. Enjoy!
