WHERE TEAPOTS AND TUNA BREATH LIVE IN HARMONY
Rescues in the Los Angeles area got 72-hour notices. Georgia was only six but already suffering with eye ailments. They used the words “mostly blind” making her a hard-sell case and placing her on a path to being killed. Shelter workers said she hissed when approached, fearing anything and everybody. But Georgia had a secret. She was actually sweet. She just needed to be surrounded by understanding humans. We tried to engage Milo’s Sanctuary early on, but they declined (insufficient funds and no fosters, they said). Options for bailing Georgia out of this high kill shelter seemed out of reach. And nobody had pledged money to help on the Lancaster cats & kittens FB group. When I read Georgia’s story and watched a video of her, I knew I had to make a substantial donation to get any interest in saving her. Someone pledged $25. I pledged $100 and then networked her on a southern California rescue page. Somehow, Georgia’s plight took flight and pledges I was unaware of poured in on another FB group. And then one morning in March 2024, Linda (our FB group owner /rescue gal) used the $125 we pledged to pull Georgia out of the Lancaster shelter and drove her to a rescue near Mohave. So happy she is free. Yea, Georgia! We love second chances.
